Former Pakistan Test head coach Jason Gillespie has revealed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to clear his dues, four months after his resignation from the post.
In an interview with a local digital platform, Gillespie — who served as the head coach of the Pakistan Test side from April to December 2024 — expressed disappointment over the delay in payment and hoped the matter would be resolved soon.
“It’s disheartening. I served the role with full commitment, and it’s unfortunate that the dues are still pending,” the former Australian fast bowler remarked.
Gillespie had taken over the red-ball coaching responsibilities in early 2024 and was later tasked with overseeing the ODI squad as well, following the abrupt resignation of white-ball coach Gary Kirsten in mid-2024.
His stint, however, was marred by internal issues, which he said contributed to his decision to step down. “There were a series of unilateral decisions by the PCB administration.
Appointing Mohammad Rizwan as captain without consultation was one of the many decisions that ultimately hurt the team’s cohesion,” he said.
“Pakistan cricket appears to be caught in a cycle of poor planning and unpredictable leadership,” Gillespie added, reflecting on his short tenure.
Following Gillespie’s resignation in December 2024, former cricketer Aqib Javed was handed the interim head coach role. However, following a string of poor performances, the PCB has recently advertised the position in search of a permanent replacement.
