In the wake of an attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in multiple casualties, the United States has reiterated its “Do Not Travel” advisory for the India-held Kashmir.
According to local media, the attack has prompted heightened security measures across several Indian cities, placing them on high alert.
In response, the US Department of State has urged American citizens to avoid travel to the occupied Kashmir region, citing the persistent threat of terrorism and civil unrest, particularly in areas along the Line of Control (LoC) that separates India and Pakistan.
The advisory also underscores that US government personnel are prohibited from traveling to the region due to ongoing security concerns. Popular tourist destinations such as Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam, located in the occupied Kashmir valley, are considered high-risk areas.
Additionally, the US State Department noted that the Indian government imposes restrictions on foreign tourists seeking to access certain areas near the LoC. Travelers are encouraged to consult the official U.S. travel advisory website for updated guidance and safety information.
