At least four people, including two women and a child, were killed in a powerful roadside explosion in the rural Amiri area of Kalat district on Wednesday, Levies officials confirmed.
The blast also left five others seriously injured.
According to initial reports, the tragic incident occurred in the Kapoto area, where an improvised explosive device (IED) had been planted along the roadside and detonated as a vehicle passed by. Levies personnel said the vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast due to the intensity of the explosion.
Emergency responders and Levies forces rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Kalat for immediate medical assistance. After receiving first aid, all five critically injured victims were transferred to Quetta for advanced treatment.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
