Internal criticism has emerged against the Modi government regarding its claims about blocking Pakistan's water supply. A Hindu pandit has publicly challenged the government's assertions, stating that India currently lacks the capability to restrict water flow from the Indus River into Pakistan.
"We have investigated what solutions India has to block the water of the Indus River, and discovered that India has no arrangements in place to do so," the pandit said in a statement reported by sources. He further explained that even if the Indian government began working on such infrastructure now, "it would take at least 20 years" to implement.
The pandit directly questioned Prime Minister Modi's administration: "You (Modi government) have been saying that we will block Pakistan's water, but what are you actually doing?" He concluded that the Indian public is being deliberately misled on this issue.
Political analysts suggest the Modi government is using water politics as a tool to win elections, with the pandit calling for accountability: "We are saying catch those who are responsible for this failure; someone must be held accountable."
The revelation has sparked debate about the government's transparency regarding its capabilities and intentions in the ongoing water disputes with neighbouring Pakistan.
