Pakistan's struggling campaign in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup face another setback as the team has been penalized for a slow overrate in their recent match against South Africa.
The Pakistani team was found to be four overs short during South Africa's batting innings in Chennai, resulting in a 20% deduction from their match fee.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct, players incur a 5% fine of their match fee for each over not bowled within the stipulated time.
The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Alex Wharf and Paul Reiffel, third umpire Richard Illingworth, and fourth umpire Richard Kettleborough following Pakistan's loss to South Africa.
Pakistan's World Cup performance has been underwhelming with only two victories out of six matches.
To have a chance at qualifying for the semi-finals, the 1992 champions must win their remaining three matches apart from other scenarios in play.
