Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Saturday that the country’s foreign policy was underscored at the global level, when he was the country’s foreign minister.
Expressing his thoughts, Mr Bhutto-Zardari said: "The people of Badin stood by the PPP and played an important role in the PPP’s victory by dismantling the conspirators. The elements of the conspiracy did not want to see the local body elections. I express my gratitude to the people of Badin".
"It was with the backing of the masses that I became the youngest foreign minister of the country. I had struggled for the sake of the masses. As the country was facing a severe crisis, we took over the coalition government," Mr Bhutto-Zardari stated.
– Bilawal Bhutto bemoans red-hot inflation –
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari bemoaned on Friday the ballooning inflation in the country.
Speaking to media, Mr Bhutto-Zardari said, "Right now the country is facing severe economic hardships. The people are facing poverty, inflation, and unemployment."
He reiterated the demand for holding elections. Mr Bhutto-Zardari said, "The elections should be held in the country within 90 days. If we win the elections, we will serve the masses."
Recalling the events that transpired on May 9, Mr Bhutto-Zardari said, "The culprits of the May 9 incidents have to be taught a lesson to avert any such events in the future."
"Former president Asif Ali Zardari had spent more time in jail as the political leader. If the masses pick up Asif Ali Zardari or Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, then everyone should accept them," he added.
"We will even accept the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) if the masses vote the party into power," Mr Bhutto-Zardari maintained.
Speaking about the Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) meeting with the business community, Mr Bhutto-Zardari said, "The COAS’ meeting with the traders is not a new thing. The predecessors of the COAS had also held meetings with the business community."
"The business community should also apprise the political parties of their issues," he added.
Taking a dig at the PTI chief, Mr. Bhutto-Zardari said, "The person who used to say that he would pit everybody in prison is today himself behind bars."
He made it clear that the PPP was ready to face the courts and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
