In an effort to ensure national security and economic stability, the caretaker government, security forces, and military leadership have launched a campaign against electricity theft throughout the country.
Under government supervision, the operation against electricity thieves commenced in September.
According to the figures from 22 October to 29 October, a staggering amount of approximately Rs4.59 billion in fines was collected, and over 5,448 individuals were arrested.
The crackdown led to the arrest of 5,241 individuals in Islamabad and Punjab, 34 in Sindh, and 173 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their involvement in electricity theft.
Moreover, 3,217 FIRs were registered in Punjab and Islamabad, 215 in Sindh, and 325 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in connection with the crackdown.
The operation resulted in the collection of approximately Rs1.91 billion from Punjab and Islamabad, Rs1.08 billion from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rs1.39 billion from Sindh, and Rs0.21 billion from Balochistan.
Since September 1, the nationwide efforts have collected over Rs32 billion in fines and led to the arrest of more than 24,000 individuals involved in electricity theft.
The concerned government and military leadership remain determined to eradicate electricity theft completely throughout the country.
