The Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police has apprehended two individuals involved in a chilling case of death threat emails sent to billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the financial and business community, as law enforcement works diligently to uncover the motive behind this audacious crime.
Meanwhile, the main accused, a 19-year-old resident of Telangana, was taken into custody for allegedly sending multiple death threat emails to Mukesh Ambani.
In a coordinated operation, a second suspect, identified as Shabad Khan, was arrested from Mumbai's Gamdevi area.
The duo had reportedly demanded an astonishing sum of Rs 20 crore as ransom from Ambani, and subsequently escalated their demand to an eye-popping Rs 400 crore through a series of threatening emails.
The global nature of this investigation became evident when it was discovered that the VPN network used to dispatch the ominous emails originated in Belgium, adding a layer of complexity to the case.
A senior police official closely involved in the ongoing investigation commented, "At this stage, the motivation behind these threats appears to be mischievous.
However, we are conducting thorough interrogations to ascertain more details about the content of the emails and to trace the network utilized by the suspects."
Mukesh Ambani
Mukesh Ambani, one of the world's wealthiest entrepreneurs, has reportedly been receiving menacing emails since October 27, with a series of messages arriving on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, all originating from a single email ID.
Each of these emails contained an extortion demand, with one particularly alarming threat promising the business magnate's demise unless a sum of Rs 200 crore was paid.
The incident has rattled India's business and corporate circles, raising concerns about the security of high-profile individuals. While the investigation is still ongoing, the apprehension of these two individuals brings a glimmer of hope that authorities are making progress in addressing this worrisome situation.
