The PCB issued a statement on Saturday, clarifying that the appointment or expansion of the management committee falls under the authority of the Prime Minister, with the decision expected to be made in the near future.
Speculation had been rife that Zaka Ashraf's term as head of the committee was to be extended until the conclusion of the World Cup 2023.
The current interim management committee, led by Zaka Ashraf, was originally set to conclude its term on November 5.
However, the future of the PCB's administration has been shrouded in uncertainty due to a series of high-profile missteps that have garnered significant attention.
One notable incident involved a press release that appeared to shift blame onto captain Babar Azam and selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, the latter of whom has since resigned.
Additionally, a controversy emerged surrounding a leaked WhatsApp conversation between Babar Azam and a senior PCB official, further tarnishing the board's image.
Ashraf's leadership has faced criticism from members of the management committee, including Zulfiqar Malik and Mustafa Ramday.
They have expressed concerns about the committee's decision-making and its perceived lack of progress in conducting board elections, a mandate it was given in July.
Zulfiqar Malik took the step of sending an email to Zaka Ashraf, other members of the committee, and the Prime Minister in October, outlining his criticism of PCB operations. Separately, Mustafa Ramday also communicated his concerns about the board's administration and the way it has been run.
