The newly inducted caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhunkhwa, Justice (retd) Arshad Hussain, has assumed his office.
On reaching the chief minister’s secretariat, he was welcomed by senior officials of the secretariat and presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the provincial police.
Meanwhile, the new KP cabinet will take an oath today. According to official sources, the cabinet will take oath at 3pm at the Governor's House. It is expected that minor changes will be made to the ministries of the previous cabinet members.

Justice Shah was appointed the caretaker chief minister after KP Governor Ghulam Ali approved a summary.
Arshad Hussain Shah was serving as the minister for law and auqaf and human rights in the previous cabinet of the late Azam Khan, who had passed away a couple of days ago.
Shah also served as chief judge of the Supreme Appellate Court of Gilgit-Baltistan from 2019 to 2022. He also served as a judge of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
Former caretaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Azam Khan had passed away on Saturday morning.

According to a spokesperson of the Rehman Medical Institute, Peshawar, Azam Khan was shifted to the private hospital on Friday night when his health deteriorated.
According to media reports, Khan was suffering from a severe stomach infection and suffered a heart attack on Friday night. As per sources, quoting family and officials, he died at 10:25am on Saturday.
