The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday given the green light to the imposition of a surcharge amounting to Rs1.52 per unit on K-electric consumers.
The decision, as stated by NEPRA, is set to be applicable from December 2023 to November 2024, impacting consumers in Karachi.
NEPRA's official statement reveals that the additional surcharge is expected to generate revenue exceeding Rs24 billion and Rs50 million during the specified period.
The regulatory body, in collaboration with the federal government, has finalized the decision, with sources indicating that the federal government will soon issue a formal notification regarding the imposition of the surcharge.
