Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Yousuf Raza Gilani called for transparent polls on Sunday.
Speaking to media in Lodhran, the former prime minister said: "There seems to be no choice but to delay elections following the assurances of the president, chief justice, and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)."
"Every political party will contest elections according to its own manifesto. The PPP is playing on the front foot," he said.

The PPP asked on Saturday the ECP to take notice of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) intra-party elections.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi said: "Once again, there has been selection in the PTI. The PTI has been supported by an old PPP leader, Barrister Gohar Ali, who contested the 2018 elections on the ticket of the PPP."
"The PPP has full confidence in the electoral watchdog. Nobody can even imagine the delay in the elections during the presence of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa," the PPP leader said.
Kundi took a swipe at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P). "The MQM-P is finding excuses to escape the general elections," he said.
