A day before the scheduled premiere on Tuesday, December 5th at 9 AM ET, an account, now suspended, leaked the trailer on X (formerly Twitter).
In swift response, Rockstar promptly released the trailer on its official YouTube channel.

The trailer affirms various details that have gradually surfaced about GTA VI over the past two years, confirming the return to Vice City and the inclusion of the series' inaugural female protagonist, featuring a narrative inspired by Bonnie and Clyde.
The trailer discloses a 2025 release date, and Rockstar, in a subsequent press release on Monday, clarified that the game is slated for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S that year.
A decade in the making, GTA VI's debut trailer could have been a mere depiction of the Roman numeral for six, sparking discussions and speculation for an indefinite period.
Fortunately, the trailer exceeded these expectations, showcasing GTA staples such as high-speed chases, chaotic gunfights, stacks of illicit money, and illustration of American-style ethics, all set against the backdrop of Vice City, a fictionalised representation of Miami.
The trailer spotlights a lone protagonist, Lucia, a woman initially seen in a prison jumpsuit, hinting at her involvement in criminal activities alongside her boyfriend upon release.
The press release offers a succinct overview of the game, stating, "Grand Theft Auto VI takes players to the state of Leonida, encompassing the neon-drenched streets of Vice City and beyond, marking the most extensive and immersive evolution in the Grand Theft Auto series."
The revelation of GTA VI has been marked by numerous leaked information. Earlier this year, a UK teenager was identified as the culprit behind the leak that disseminated 90 videos from the game's developmental phase.
This week, a TikTok video surfaced, purportedly showcasing leaked footage from the game, allegedly sourced from a Rockstar employee's child.
These TikTok videos, still available at the time of writing, exhibit glimpses of the game's setting on a computer monitor.
