Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Saqib Nisar, faced a shocking and alarming incident as his residence became the target of a hand grenade attack.
As per the initial reports garnered, the assault, marked by the explosion of a hand grenade at his home in the provincial capital's Garden Town area, has left two policemen injured. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Injured police personnel were identified as Muhammad Amir and Khurram Shahzad.
Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, cordoning off the area and launching a thorough investigation into the appalling attack. Security agencies are actively engaged in uncovering the motives behind this disturbing act, aiming to identify the perpetrators and ensure swift justice.
A team of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has reached the former CJP's residence.
Speaking exclusively to Samaa TV, Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar said, “We were all inside our home when suddenly, there was a loud explosion that echoed through the surroundings.”
Expressing relief amidst the alarming situation, Nisar confirmed, “Thankfully, all our family members are safe despite the startling blast.” The former Chief Justice highlighted the intensity of the explosion, noting, “The sound was quite loud and unnerving, catching us by surprise.”
Authorities, including the police, swiftly responded to the scene, prompting investigations into the cause of the explosion. Shedding light on the ongoing inquiry, Nisar mentioned, “The police officials informed us that it was a grenade bomb blast. They are diligently investigating the incident to ascertain the details and circumstances surrounding the blast."
