Punjab Police intensified the crackdown against electricity thieves and registered over 23,000 cases while 14,985 accused were arrested for stealing electricity across the province including the metropolis of Lahore.
According to Punjab Police, 12025 cases were registered and 32 accused were arrested in a single day in Lahore.
So far, 23565 cases have been registered and more than 14,000 accused have been arrested for electricity theft.
While cracking down on electricity thieves in Lahore, police registered 236 cases.
Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar said that the crackdown will continue against the elements involved in electricity theft in Punjab with the cooperation of the relevant departments.
All District Police Officers (DPOs) should send action reports to the Central Police Office (CPO) regularly, Punjab Police top cop said.
