Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned on Thursday the recent arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi calling on the PTI to apologise for what he deemed as political victimization during their regime.
Responding to questions about his decision to contest elections from Lahore, Bilawal explained that it was a strategic move to provide the people with an alternative option.
Expressing optimism about the acceptance of his nomination papers, he emphasised his commitment to the PPP, dismissing any association with other political parties.
PPP's vision for prosperity
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari presented the PPP's comprehensive 10-point manifesto, focusing on addressing the pressing issues of poverty, inflation, and unemployment.
The manifesto outlines plans for salary increases, free electricity for the poorest, green energy parks, and a promise to double the impact of education and health facilities.
Mr Bilawal pledged to build 20 lacs houses for flood victims in Sindh and an additional 30 lakh houses for the country's poor.
The party aims to expand the Benazir Support Program, directly benefit farmers through registration and the issuance of Hari Cards, and empower the youth with the establishment of dedicated youth centers.
Nomination papers controversy
Bilawal Bhutto voiced dissatisfaction over the alleged snatching of nomination papers without valid reasons, asserting that such actions would not deter the PPP from contesting elections.
He called on concerned authorities to ensure a fair and transparent election process.
In an impassioned plea, Bilawal Bhutto reiterated the PPP's commitment to transforming promises into tangible actions, urging the people to give his party a chance to combat inflation, poverty, and promote justice and prosperity across the nation.
Scrapping inefficient ministries
In a bold move, Bilawal Bhutto declared his intention to close all 17 ministries established after the 18th amendment, citing an annual expenditure of 300 billion rupees with no tangible results.
He pledged to redirect these funds towards addressing climate change issues, leveraging global support to fund environmental initiatives.
Expressing concern over the lack of justice for the heirs of Jan Mehr Muhammad, Bilawal Bhutto called upon the caretaker government to ensure a fair and swift resolution to the case.
