Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq said on Monday urged people to cast votes for his party in the forthcoming elections, slated to be held on February 8.
Addressing the public gathering in Lower Dir, Haq said: "Those who are creating uncertainty in connection with the elections are violating the Supreme Court of Pakistan's (SCP) order."
"The nation is having the golden opportunity to embrace the democratic process in the New Year," Haq said.
Haq took a swipe at the political opponents, saying, "The rulers who have been imposed on the country over the years have done nothing but leave the masses to face poverty, ballooning inflation, and unemployment."
He urged the need to steer the country's economy towards stability. "The JI will end the system of usury in the country and steer the country out of its economic woes by embracing Islamic principles," he added.

The JI chief stressed the need to uphold democracy to lead the country towards prosperity.
Expressing his thoughts in Lahore, Haq said: “The parties of the feudalists and investors are the obstacle to stabilising the process of democracy in the country. The parties who have already been tested have delivered nothing for the sake of the masses.”
“The masses are bearing the brunt of the ill-planned policies of the former rulers,” he added.

Haq said that the country was bearing the brunt of the former ruling parties’ “flawed” policies.
Expressing his thoughts in Lahore, Haq reiterated the need to uplift the democracy in the country. “The country can only move forward with the continuation of the democratic process in the country. The JI wants the supremacy of the law rather than the rule by some individuals.”
He bemoaned “dynastic” politics, saying, “With the exception of the JI, other political parties are merely promoting dynastic politics.”

Haq said that there is a need to hold transparent polls in the country in a bid to steer the country out of the doldrums.
Expressing his thoughts in Lahore, Haq said: “The masses were ignored for the past seven decades. The former ruling parties are responsible for dragging the country into a quagmire.”
He underscored the importance of uplifting democracy, saying, “We will have to uphold democracy in the country instead of promoting dynastic politics.”
Haq vowed to make the country "stronger enough" to overcome the international challenges.

Haq said that Pakistan will continue to rally behind the people of the Gaza Strip.
Expressing his thoughts, Haq expressed optimism that the Muslims have a bright future. “Now the country’s situation is better, and we can now remain in contact with our Muslim brothers in different parts of the world,” Haq said.
“We got to compete with resilience, as our battle is long. We will continue to fight till the last moment. We believe that the religion of the higher power is going to be enforced and prevail,” he said.

Last month, the JI chief called on Haniyeh in Qatar. On the occasion, Haniyeh had expressed his gratitude to the JI and the people of Pakistan for raising the voice for Gaza.
