The match, held at a packed stadium, saw India win the toss and elect to bowl first, putting Bangladesh in to bat. India's pace bowlers, led by Shami and Thakur, quickly made their presence felt, sending the Bangladeshi top order back to the pavilion with a shaky score of 59/4.
However, Bangladesh found its savior in the form of Shakib Al Hasan, whose spectacular performance at the crease garnered 80 runs from 85 balls. He received crucial support from Towhid Hridoy, who contributed 54 runs from 81 balls. Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan further bolstered the innings with their valuable contributions, enabling Bangladesh to post a competitive total of 265.
In response, India's chase began with the rookie Tanzim Hasan Sakib making a significant impact by dismissing the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma early on. Shubman Gill, though, held his ground and delivered a brilliant performance, achieving his sixth international century of the year. However, Gill's dismissal shifted the momentum in favor of Bangladesh.
The middle overs saw Bangladesh's spinners dominating the proceedings, effectively utilizing the pitch's turn to stifle the Indian batsmen. The pacers, too, chipped in with crucial wickets, ultimately sealing Bangladesh's historic victory.
