Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori said on Saturday that the country’s economy will be strengthened within a few months.
Speaking to the media at the Karachi Expo Centre, Mr Tessori said, "The country will witness an increase in exports within a few months." He asserted, "The investment will also come from the Middle Eastern countries in the amount of up to $25 billion.
Mr Tessori said, "The sectors that faced losses of billions are also being privatised.
He made it clear that a proposal will be made to change the Karachi police chief if the crime rate is not controlled in the city within 15 days.
Speaking about the greenback, Mr Tessori said, "The dollar continues to get drubbed at the hands of rupee. I said that a week ago that the US dollar will reach Rs 255."
– Whopping increase in petroleum prices –
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) condemned on Saturday the whopping increase in petroleum prices.
The MQM-P Rabita Committee said, "The caretaker government is mounting pressure on the masses instead of decreasing its own expenses. The exorbitant prices of petroleum products will also make it extremely difficult for the people to get the basic amenities of life."
"People are compelled to commit suicide as they are facing severe economic hardships. It is becoming difficult for salaried people to fulfil their basic needs," said the MQM-P.
The MQM-P rued, "It is becoming difficult to endure the red-hot inflation as the poor segment of society is struggling deeply."
