In response to the escalating social media campaign targeting Supreme Court judges, the Ministry of Interior took swift action on Tuesday by forming a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) tasked with preventing and addressing the malicious campaign.
The JIT, comprising six members, will be spearheaded by the Additional Director of the FIA Cyber Crime Wing, bringing together expertise from various intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
Notably, the team will include representatives from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The investigative committee boasts the inclusion of a grade 20 member from both IB and ISI, while the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad Police will also contribute to the efforts.
Additionally, a PTA representative will be a vital part of the committee, ensuring a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to identifying and curbing those responsible for the ongoing online smear campaign against judges.
The JIT's primary objectives are to pinpoint the individuals behind the malicious campaign and propose effective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Moreover, the committee will operate out of the FIA headquarters, serving as the secretariat, and is expected to submit its detailed report to the Ministry of Interior within a strict timeframe of 15 days.
