According to the report, on June 18, Indian intelligence operatives assassinated Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
Nijjar was killed for advocating Sikh rights and the demand for an independent Sikh state.
The incident has severely impacted US-India relations, leading President Biden to reject an invitation from the Indian government, as the allegations from the Canadian Prime Minister were found to be based on truth.
Following Nijjar's assassination, the Modi government also devised a plan for the targeted killing of Sikh leaders affiliated with the Sikh group "Gurpatwant Singh Pannun" residing in the United States.
Indian plans were thwarted with timely actions by American intelligence agencies.
The Secretary-General of Amnesty International has called for the United Nations to form an investigative team to look into extrajudicial killings carried out under state patronage.
