The provincial government of Punjab has initiated a programme designed to provide discounted cards for travel to people with disabilities.
These cards entitle individuals to a substantial 50% reduction in fares for travels via public transportation.
The project, introduced in alignment with the Punjab Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act, is geared towards enhancing the accessibility of public transit for individuals contending with disabilities.

The travel card initiative extends its eligibility to all persons with disabilities who possess an officially sanctioned disability certificate from the government.
Interested individuals can make applications for the credential at the offices of the Deputy Director of Social Welfare in their respective districts.
Last year, the interim provincial administration made headlines by announcing complimentary travel privileges for elderly citizens and students utilizing the Orange Line Metro Train, Metro Bus Service, and Speedo Bus Service.
However, just on the point of the winter break, the provincial administration opted to discontinue this service.
Recently, the interim Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, issued directives to reinstate the cost-free travel provision on major public transportation projects.
Students up to the twelfth grade can enjoy in complimentary travel across all Metro Buses and the Orange Line Train until the arrival of the summer break.
