Veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik is expected to rejoin Fortune Barishal on Tamim Iqbal’s request in the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Sources divulged on Wednesday that Malik will join Fortune Barishal on February 2. He is expected to take part in the match against Khulna Tigers in Sylhet on February 3.
Malik had received a telephone call for Tamim Iqbal, who requested the former rejoin the team.
Earlier, the newlywed cricketer had left BPL for personal reasons and reached Dubai. He also had to face the allegations related to the match fixing, which were denied by both Malik and Fortune Barishal.

Separately, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam on Wednesday acknowledged the spinners’ quality in the BPL.
Speaking to a Bangladeshi website, Azam shed light on his cover drive, saying, “I had worked hard on my cover drive as this shot is my strength and will help me bag confidence.’’
He was of the view that Asian batters have to face challenges playing in New Zealand, Australia, or South Africa. ‘’The only solution to all problems is to prepare yourself for the bounce and pace.’’
Azam said, “Whenever I go from the rough patch, then I take consultations with many people. I used to learn from my mistakes.’’
He emphasised the need for team combinations in T20s, saying, "Though there is a need for youngsters in T20s, the importance of the senior players cannot be sidelined as well.’’
