In a bid to enhance voter facilitation and accessibility, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has joined forces with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide a convenient SMS service for eligible voters to check their registration status.
Effective from January 29, the SMS service, previously charged at Rs2 per message, has now been made free of charge.
This move aims to encourage greater civic engagement and participation in the electoral process.
How to check?
To avail themselves of this service, voters simply need to text their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 8300. It is crucial to note that the CNIC should be entered without any hyphens (-) or spaces.
In response, voters will receive detailed information about their constituencies, polling stations, and block codes.
The ECP stressed the importance of voters bringing their CNICs to the polling station on election day. Even if the CNIC is expired, or if voters are using a token issued for the issuance of a new CNIC, they can cast their votes without any hindrance.
