PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub launched scathing criticism against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday, denouncing his reconciliation offer as "bogus" and labeling his inaugural address as "Zero by Zero".
He further said that the prime minister, in his first speech after winning the office, had nothing to sell. Ayub further demanded the release of all political prisoners, including Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, and asserted the need for the return of their mandate for political stability.
The political landscape remains fraught with uncertainty as both sides engage in verbal sparring, with accusations and counter-accusations flying amidst the charged atmosphere. As the day progresses, all eyes are on Parliament, awaiting the pivotal decision regarding the leadership of the opposition and the subsequent implications for the country's political trajectory.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Monday that the parliamentary session has entered its fourth day, yet traditional speeches continue to dominate the proceedings.
Talking to the media in Islamabad, he indicated that today would mark the decisive moment when the leader of the opposition would be chosen in the National Assembly. When asked by a journalist about his potential candidacy for the post, Barrister Gohar remained cryptic, stating that whoever becomes the opposition leader would be known by the end of the day.
Highlighting the significant financial implications of parliamentary sessions, the PTI chairman revealed that a staggering sum of Rs65 million was spent daily on the assembly proceedings, prompting scrutiny over the efficiency and productivity of the sessions.
To another question, he said only time would tell if the government would complete its tenure.
