After testing a man in Germany, who said he had got 217 COVID-19 shots, researchers discovered that his immune system was in perfect working order.
It is yet unknown how this kind of hyper vaccination might affect the immune system. According to several experts, immune cells would lose their effectiveness as they grew used to the antigens.
The individual's immune system is completely operational, according to the case report that was published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal.
According to the researchers, more than 60 million people in Germany have received the SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, most of them more than once.
A team from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nurnberg (FAU) in Germany has evaluated a guy who says he had 217 immunizations for personal reasons. They added that 134 of these immunizations had verified proof.
"We learned about his case via newspaper articles," said Kilian Schober from FAU.
He further reveals that "We then contacted him and invited him to undergo various tests in Erlangen (a city in Germany). He was very interested in doing so”.
Immunizations include components of the pathogen or a blueprint that the vaccinated individual's cells may utilize to manufacture these harmful elements on their own.
The immune system gains the ability to identify the true pathogen in the case of a subsequent infection because of these antigens. That allows it to respond more quickly and forcefully.
The goal of the study was to examine the effects of often exposing the immune system to a particular antigen.
According to Kilian Schober "That may be the case in a chronic infection such as HIV or hepatitis B, that has regular flare-ups".
He said that "There is an indication that certain types of immune cells, known as T-cells, then become fatigued, leading to them releasing fewer pro-inflammatory messenger substances".
Nevertheless, the researchers stated that the study offers no evidence that this is the case.
Schober stated that "We were also able to take blood samples ourselves when the man received a further vaccination during the study at his own insistence. We were able to use these samples to determine exactly how the immune system reacts to the vaccination".
The person has a high number of T-effector cells against SARS-CoV-2, according to the data. They function as the body's own defenders against the virus, according to the researchers.
These effector cells showed no signs of tiredness to the researchers. They performed just as well as the individuals in the control group who had received the usual dosage of vaccines.
One of the leading authors of the study name Katharina Kocher explained that "The number of memory cells was just as high in our test case as in the control group".
She further said that "Overall, we did not find any indication for a weaker immune response, rather the contrary".
