Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level review meeting on advancing the information technology (IT) sector in Pakistan. The meeting was aimed at devising strategies to enhance domestic IT exports and leverage the sector's potential, which is valued at billions of dollars.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif issued directives to develop a comprehensive roadmap for increasing domestic IT exports, emphasizing the need to capitalize on the country's burgeoning capabilities.
"We will take steps to take full advantage of the potential of the country's IT exports worth billions of dollars," he stressed.
Sharif also underscored the importance of providing education and skills to the youth in the IT sector, along with facilitating startups with necessary resources.
Highlighting the progress made in IT initiatives under the previous government, Prime Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction with the positive outcomes achieved. He also announced the resolution of banking-related issues faced by startups, freelancers, and IT companies, ensuring a conducive environment for growth in the sector.
Prime Minister Sharif applauded the expected volume of IT exports, exceeding $3 billion this year, as a significant achievement for the country. He stressed the importance of Special Technology Zones and instructed the preparation of a comprehensive report on the matter.
In his concluding remarks, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need for concerted efforts to elevate Pakistan's IT sector to international standards, reiterating his commitment to fostering innovation and growth in the industry.
