In a major crackdown on organised crime, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a successful raid on a flat located in the bustling area of Davis Road, Lahore.
Acting on a tip-off, the raiding team apprehended two suspects allegedly involved in the illicit activities of illegal currency exchange and reference handi.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Muhammad Abid and Waqas Ahmed, suspected key players in the corporate crime circle.
During the operation, authorities seized a substantial amount of foreign currency, including 21,770 Saudi Riyals, 15,805 UAE Dirhams, 12,100 US Dollars, and 100 Danish Krone, along with a staggering sum of 7 million Pakistani rupees.
Moreover, the raid yielded crucial evidence, including mobile phones, reference handi registers, receipts, and other incriminating materials. Despite thorough interrogation, the accused failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding the recovered currency, leading to their immediate arrest.
A spokesperson for the FIA revealed that the investigation into the matter has been initiated, with efforts underway to uncover further links and apprehend additional suspects involved in the nefarious activities. Raids are being actively conducted to track down and apprehend other individuals associated with the illicit operations.
The swift and decisive action by the FIA underscores the government's commitment to combating financial crimes and ensuring the integrity of the nation's financial system. The agency remains vigilant in its pursuit of justice and will spare no effort in rooting out corruption and criminality from society.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may undermine the stability and security of the country's financial landscape.
