Australian captain Pat Cummins announced on Thursday that he has successfully recovered from a wrist injury and is eager to participate in all three one-day internationals against India, commencing on Friday.
Despite Cummins' return, Australia will still be without the services of pacer Mitchell Starc and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for the opening match in the northern Indian city of Mohali.
"I am feeling quite good, nearly at 100 percent, and I'm looking forward to playing tomorrow and being part of all the matches," Cummins conveyed to the press.
However, Cummins clarified that Starc, recuperating from a groyne injury, and Maxwell, dealing with an ankle injury, will not be part of the initial match but are expected to be available later in the series.
Many of Australia's top players also feature prominently in various Indian Premier League Twenty20 franchises, which gives them valuable insights into local conditions, as Cummins pointed out.
Cummins expressed the team's intention to experiment with different combinations and players against India as part of their preparation for the upcoming World Cup in India, which holds paramount importance.
"We're hoping to find some answers in the upcoming matches," Cummins remarked.
Australia, alongside India and England, is considered one of the top contenders in the ODI World Cup.
India, on the other hand, has chosen to rest captain Rohit Sharma and batting sensation Virat Kohli for the first two ODIs, aiming to assess different players before the tournament. KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in Sharma's absence, with key players making their return for the final match of the series.
