Sepoy Saddam Hussain's remarkable story shines bright this Eid-ul-Fitr. Saddam, a valiant soldier, lost his right eye in the line of duty during a mine blast on April 23, 2019. Undeterred by adversity, he stands tall, embodying the spirit of resilience and patriotism.
Reflecting on his journey, Saddam Hussain expressed gratitude for the life he leads, despite the challenges he faces. "I haven't lived like normal people," he remarked, "but Alhamdulillah, I'm still living a very good life." His sacrifice, however, extends beyond himself. With a son and a daughter to care for, Saddam dreams of his son following in his footsteps, aspiring to achieve even greater feats for the nation.
Eid holds a special place in Saddam's heart, fraught with memories of spending it on the border alongside his comrades in arms. "Many of my Eids have been spent on the border with the soldiers of the Pak Army," he reminisced, expressing a sense of longing for those cherished moments.
In the face of adversity, Saddam remains resolute in his commitment to defend his country. "Even today, if the army calls me, I will go out and not back down from my duty," he declared with unwavering determination.
His wife, echoing his sentiments, expressed pride and unwavering support for her husband's sacrifice. "If the country needs my husband, he is there. He will never back down. He will even give his life for his country," she affirmed.
