Pakistanis downloaded a staggering number of mobile applications, surpassing 3.5 billion in the year 2023, as per data obtained from the market intelligence platform Data Darbar.
The report, obtained by Sama, sheds light on the nation's evolving digital landscape, highlighting key trends and consumer behaviors. The data revealed that Pakistani consumers spent a notable $87 million on mobile app downloads, underlining the increasing reliance on smartphone applications for various needs and entertainment.
Among the most downloaded applications were popular platforms such as TikTok, Ludo, Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram, reflecting the diverse preferences of Pakistani users.
A significant finding from the report indicates that games apps dominated the download charts, with a remarkable 64 percent of Pakistanis opting for gaming entertainment on their smartphones. This underscores the growing importance of mobile gaming as a favored pastime among the country's populace.
Moreover, the report sheds light on the extensive usage of mobile phones among Pakistanis, with users collectively spending a staggering 99 billion hours on their devices.
This figure significantly contributes to the global usage statistics, with Pakistan accounting for a notable portion of the 4 billion hours spent on mobile phones worldwide.
In terms of connectivity, Pakistan's mobile broadband landscape also saw notable growth, with the number of subscribers reaching 12.4 million, according to Data Darbar's findings.
Additionally, the report highlights that on average, every Pakistani mobile phone user consumed approximately seven and a half gigabytes of mobile data per month, showcasing the increasing reliance on digital connectivity for communication, entertainment, and productivity.
