The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) recognized the membership of the independent members of the National Assembly in the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) party and formally informed the National Assembly Secretariat about the party's position.
As per ECP, 82 independent members of the NA joined the SIC including 49 from Punjab and 33 independent members from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. No reserved seat was given to the SIC.
The SIC has become the second largest party in the National Assembly after PML-N with 120 members. Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has 71 members.
Now, there are 7 independent members in the NA while MQM has 21 seats, JUI has 11, PML-Q has five members while IPP, MWM, PK-MAP, BNP, PML-Z, BAP, and National Party have one seat each in the Lower House of the Parliament.
The National Assembly Secretariat had sought the latest party position from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
