According to the latest reports, the mercury is expected to exceed 37 degrees Celsius in Shahr Quaid over the next two days, exacerbating the discomfort for residents already battling the sweltering conditions.
The Meteorological Department has issued warnings indicating that the weather in Karachi remained hot and humid on Saturday, with the humidity level soaring to 51% in the afternoon. The maximum temperature recorded was 35.5 degrees Celsius, signalling the intensity of the heatwave.
Experts at the Early Warning Center of the Meteorological Department have cautioned that the prevailing heatwave might persist for several days, prolonging the ordeal for Karachiites.
Furthermore, forecasts suggest that temperatures could climb even higher, surpassing the 37-degree mark on both Sunday and Monday.
Adding to the challenges, winds are expected to blow from the southwest direction of the sea, potentially intensifying the heat. Meanwhile, other parts of the province are also bracing for hot and dry weather conditions.
Jacobabad, another city in Sindh, registered the highest temperature on Saturday, reaching a scorching 42 degrees Celsius, further underscoring the severity of the heatwave gripping the region.
Amidst these challenging conditions, residents are urged to take precautionary measures to safeguard themselves from the adverse effects of the heat. Authorities are advising citizens to stay indoors during peak sun hours, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities to prevent heat-related illnesses.
