Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir military awards upon Army personnel for their acts of gallantry during operations and meritorious services rendered to the nation, the military media wing said on Monday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), GHQ Investiture ceremony was held at General Headquarters Rawalpindi where a large number of senior Army officers and families of awardees attended the ceremony.
Officers & soldiers were awarded medals including Sitara-I-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-I- Basalat. Medals of Shuhada were received by their family members.
In a heartfelt address, COAS General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), paid homage to the fallen heroes, remarking that "there is nothing more noble than laying one's life for the defence of the motherland." He emphasized that the sacrifices of the martyrs serve as a steadfast beacon, fortifying the nation's resolve to combat adversity with unwavering dedication and the spirit of sacrifice.
General Munir also commended the unwavering spirit exhibited by the courageous families of the Shuhada, acknowledging their resilience in the face of profound loss.
He reiterated that the “Shuhada” and “Ghazis” epitomize the essence of national heroism, underscoring that Pakistan's independence and security are indebted to the indomitable valour of its gallant warriors.
COAS also lauded brave families of Shuhada for their high spirits and sacrifices rendered by them. COAS said that Shuhada and Ghazis are our national heroes and the nation owes its independence and security to the sacrifices of its valiant warriors, the ISPR added.
