Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a nine-member Economic Advisory Council. The Finance Division has issued a notification.
According to the notification, the prime minister himself will head the council. The Economic Advisory Council includes Jahangir Tareen, Saqib Shirazi, Shahzad Saleem, as well as Musadaq Zulqarnain, Dr. Ejaz Nabi, Asif Peer, Ziad Bashir, and Salman Ahmed.
It should be noted that the economic council will review the economy and suggest measures, review various subsidies, financial changes and suggest recommendations for policymaking for the betterment of the economy.
The prime minister will also consult with the council regarding the budget and economic policies for the new fiscal year. There is also a possibility of important suggestions and consultations regarding the ongoing negotiations with the IMF.
