Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has expressed profound sorrow over the recent helicopter incident involving President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and his companions.
In a statement, Ayatollah Khamenei conveyed his heartfelt concern and prayers for their safety and swift return.
"We hope that God will return the president and his companions to the embrace of the nation," said Ayatollah Khamenei, underscoring the deep anxiety felt across the country following the incident.
The helicopter carrying President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian crashed while attempting to land in the Varzaqan region amid heavy fog.
The president was returning from a ceremony to inaugurate a dam near Iran’s border with Azerbaijan when the mishap occurred.
In the wake of the incident, Pakistani leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also extended their prayers and expressed deep concern for the well-being of President Raisi and his delegation.
