The photoshoot came when Season 4 of The Kardashians begins airing on HULU on September 28 and Season 12 of American Horror Story starring Kim began airing on September 20.

Kim firstly appeared on CR Fashion Book cover its Fall/Winter 2013 Issue 3—her first major fashion cover—photographed by Karl Largerfeld, art directed by Riccardo Tisci, and styled by Carine Roitfeld.
In 2016, Kardashian told CNN: “I remember one day [Kanye] brought me Carine Roitfeld’s coffee table book Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent and was like, ‘You should be studying this book, this is like the fashion bible. And I was like, ‘Who’s Carine?’ I knew nothing. And he said, ‘Watch, one day she’s going to style you.’” Now starring on her fourth CR cover and an enduring muse to Roitfeld, the rest, as they say, is history.
