Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman has announced enhanced security measures for the India vs Pakistan match at the T20 World Cup 2024, in response to threats from an ISIS-linked group, as per the US media reports.
The match, set to take place at the Nassau County Cricket International Stadium on June 9, has been labeled a high-risk event. This historic event marks the first time the USA is co-hosting the T20 World Cup, with West Indies as the co-hosts.
Blakeman assured that the Nassau County Police Department, along with multiple other agencies including the New York State Police, FBI, and Customs and Border Patrol, will be on high alert to ensure the safety of attendees.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder emphasized that this will be the largest security operation in the county's history, aiming to make the stadium the safest place in Nassau County on the day of the match.
Both India and Pakistan are in the same group as the USA, Canada, and Ireland. India will play three of their four group matches in New York, while Pakistan will play two of their four in the city.
