Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) took against those who did not submit tax returns and so far mobile phone SIMs of 90,000 non-filers have been blocked in a phased manner.
Data of 5000 non-filers are being given to telecom operators on a daily basis.
According to the FBR spokesperson, the data was provided to the telecom companies in 18 groups. 5671 major non-filers were identified in the initial list.
So far, the mobile SIMs of 90,000 non-filers have been blocked.
The SIMs of more than 14 315 people have also been restored to implement tax laws and file income tax returns.
SIMS are being blocked under the Income Tax General Order as FBR continued action against non-filers.
