Pakistan’s T20 World Cup journey ended in a whimper, failing to progress beyond the first round. While most of the team heads home on Monday night, captain Babar Azam and five other players will extend their stay in the United States.
Babar Azam, along with Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan, will stay in America after the national team’s World Cup tour concludes.
While most players will depart from Miami on Monday night, the six players will remain in the US for additional days. The team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on June 19, but Babar Azam will return on June 22.
Head coach Gary Kirsten will head home after the World Cup, while Mohammad Amir will join Derbyshire in England after a brief stay in America.
Despite winning a match against India, Pakistan’s failure to advance to the Super 8 round has been disappointing, with losses to the USA and an unexpected upset against India in the first round of the World Cup.
