The onset of the rainy season has led to a rapid increase in the breeding of dengue mosquitoes in Lahore, with dengue larvae discovered at over a thousand locations within the past 24 hours.
Dengue surveillance teams have been proactive, destroying all larvae found on the spot to prevent the spread of the disease. According to recent reports, larvae were recovered from 1,132 different sites across the city.
In an effort to curb the spread of dengue, the surveillance teams have issued 1,074 notices for violations of dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs) within the last 24 hours. Additionally, 58 cases have been registered for serious violations of these SOPs.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Raafia Haider highlighted the extensive efforts being made by the dengue surveillance teams, emphasizing that a total of 603 cases have been registered this year for violations of dengue SOPs. She assured the public that the teams remain highly active in the field, especially during the rainy season, to mitigate the risks associated with increased mosquito breeding.
The local government urges residents to adhere strictly to dengue prevention guidelines and cooperate with the surveillance teams to control the spread of dengue fever in the community.
