It is speculated that Samsung would include satellite connectivity in the next Galaxy S25 Ultra, an eagerly awaited feature that was noticeably missing in the Galaxy S24 series.
This discovery, made possible by Android Authority's in-depth analysis of Samsung app codes, represents a major advancement for the upcoming Galaxy smartphone generation.
The investigation uncovered references to the Samsung phone app, such as "You're in satellite mode." Text messaging is possible, and it can even reach 911. If a mobile network is nearby, emergency calls may still connect," and "Satellite mode allows you to send and receive text messages. If there is a cell network nearby, emergency calls might still be answered."
For several years, Samsung has been working on enhancing satellite communication capabilities. The functionality did not appear in the Galaxy S23 and S24, despite earlier rumours indicating that those models would be the ones that introduced it.
On the other hand, Google is introducing wider satellite compatibility in Android 15, while Apple has successfully added a satellite emergency calling capability to its smartphones.
Samsung users may soon be able to access these space-bound services on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and maybe the complete S25 family thanks to developments in satellite communication and Google's integration with Android.
