The Supreme Court held a significant swearing-in ceremony today for two newly appointed ad hoc judges.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel took their oaths in a formal ceremony presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.
The ceremony, which took place at the Supreme Court's premises, was attended by a notable gathering of lawyers and Supreme Court officers. The event marked the official induction of Justice Masood and Justice Miankhel into their new roles.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa administered the oath of office to the new judges.

On Saturday, Justice (retd) Miankhel agreed to become an ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court after initially refusing the offer.
President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday approved the appointment of two former Supreme Court judges, Justice (retd) Tariq Masood and Justice (retd) Mazhar Alam Miankhel, as ad hoc judges for one year.
Justice Miankhel had first agreed, but later refused to accept the offer as an ad hoc judge of the apex court. Later, again, he consented to the position, sources added.

Following his refusal, a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan had decided to seek the judge's opinion again.
On July 19, the chief justice of Pakistan's effort to appoint ad hoc judges to the Supreme Court encountered significant hurdles, as three out of four nominated judges declined the offer.
Sources revealed that Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel refused the offer following similar refusals from Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Maqbool Baqar. Justice Baqar turned down the offer a day after another fellow nominee for an ad hoc judge, Justice (retd) Mushir Alam refused the post.
