The Overseas Pakistanis Global Foundation (OPGF) recently held a heartfelt ceremony to honor the martyrs of the Pakistan Army who lost their lives fighting terrorists.
The event, attended by a diverse group of Pakistani expatriates, saw participants hoisting the flags of Pakistan and Kashmir while paying homage to the "homeland heroes."
The ceremony was marked by emotional speeches, with prominent figures emphasizing the sacrifices made by Pakistan Army soldiers. Chaudhry Yasin, President of the Pakistan People's Party Azad Kashmir and Member of the Legislative Assembly, shared his personal connection to the conflict. "My village is located on the Line of Control in Azad Kashmir, so I am an eyewitness to the fact that the soldiers of the Pakistan Army sacrifice their nights of sleep, while the Kashmiris living on the Line of Control sleep peacefully," he said. Yasin highlighted the profound sacrifices of the martyrs, stating, "The martyrs of the Pakistan Army who sacrificed their lives while fighting the terrorists on the Line of Control are sacrificing their today for our tomorrow."
Yasin also reflected on his family's history and their commitment to Pakistan. "My parents said goodbye to the graves of their ancestors in Occupied Kashmir to become part of Pakistan," he shared, reiterating the enduring bond between Pakistan and Kashmir. He vowed to thwart any attempts to sow discord between the two regions.
Mehr Zaheer Akhtar, Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Global Foundation, underscored the importance of remembering the martyrs. "Nations that forget their martyrs can never attain a respectable position," he said. Akhtar announced that the foundation has resolved to honor the martyred soldiers with the title of "Homeland Hero." He revealed plans for a ceremony in Islamabad where the heirs of these martyrs will be recognized and honored by overseas Pakistanis.
Prominent British lawyer Barrister Tariq Mehmood also spoke at the event, expressing support for the OPGF's initiatives. He noted that OPGF Chairman Zaheer Akhtar would actively participate in a campaign launched by the US to pay homage to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to the martyrs' legacy and the ongoing efforts to strengthen the bond between Pakistan and Kashmir. The participants expressed hope that such tributes would inspire future generations to honor and remember the sacrifices of those who fought for their homeland.
