Despite the extreme dangers, he infiltrated enemy lines and targeted their positions, ultimately sacrificing his life for the glory and honor of Pakistan."
The 13 Punjab Regiment, known as the Haider Nishan Battalion in honor of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, takes immense pride in this legacy. "Being a part of Haider Nishan Battalion is a matter of great pride not only for me but for any officer or soldier of the Pakistan Army," Lt. Col. Yawar Naseem Khan remarked. "This honor symbolizes the unparalleled sacrifices and bravery of our unit."
Second Lieutenant Ahmad emphasized the importance of following in Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed's footsteps. "The great sacrifice of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed makes us realize that we have to follow his footsteps and make the name of Pakistan bright," he said.
Deputy Subedar Gul and Havaldar Nadeem echoed these sentiments, highlighting the significance of the training and sacrifices that define their unit. "To uphold the honor of the sacrifices of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, every soldier of this unit is put through tough stages of training," said Havaldar Nadeem. "Major Tufail Shaheed and other martyrs have set a great example for future generations by making eternal sacrifices."

Timely decision-making, forceful retaliatory strikes, and faith in Allah gave Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed the honor of not only stopping the enemy from advancing but also forcing them to retreat.
The Lakshmipur area adjacent to the Indian border was being used for smuggling Indian goods into East Pakistan. The East Pakistan Rifles (EPR) were deployed to prevent illegal movement along the border.
In August 1958, in violation of all international laws, the Indian Army occupied Lakshmipur to protect smugglers. Major Tufail was assigned the responsibility of managing this area. On the night of August 7, he surprised the enemy by attacking from an unexpected direction.
While leading the attack, Major Tufail came under enemy machine gun fire. Despite bleeding profusely from wounds, he continued the grenade attack and silenced the enemy machine guns. At the same time, he saw an Indian officer, Major Dev Brahman, who was moving forward to attack a Pakistani soldier.
Unable to stand due to the profuse bleeding, Major Tufail crawled forward, entangled the enemy officer with his legs, and knocked him down with a steel helmet. Following the rules of war, he ordered his comrades to take Major Dev Brahman as a prisoner of war instead of killing him.
Major Tufail managed to expel the enemy from Lakshmipur before succumbing to his injuries. Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed became a beacon of light for future generations by sacrificing his life for his beloved country.
