History has been created on K2, as the first women expedition, including Sultana Nasab and Sarbaz Khan, summited the mighty K2.
A Pakistani woman waved the national flag on K2, as the first woman expedition successfully managed to climb the second largest mountain in the world. The Pakistan Army had organized the First Women’s K2 Expedition, for which the team, led by Sarbaz Khan, departed last month.
Sultana Nasab belongs to the Shimshal area of Gilgit-Baltistan. The team said they dedicated their success to Pakistan Army and Pakistan.
They further said that weather conditions were harsh, but they had decided to go ahead in any case.
Sarbaz Khan congratulated and thanked the entire nation. Sultana Nasab said she was glad to hoist the national flag at the K2 peak. “We are thankful to the Pakistan Army for their support in this adventure.”
The expedition included Sarbaz Khan, Sultana Nasab, Imtiaz Sadpara and Ashraf Sadpara who summited the K2.
When the team reached Skardu after completing the mission, they were given a warm welcome by the Pakistan Army. Later, on reaching Gilgit, the commander of FCNA met the team and congratulated them and also distributed certificates of appreciation.
