Today, fans remember the king of comedy on his second death anniversary, who left a permanent mark on Pakistan's entertainment industry.
Early life
Born on April 19, 1955, in Liaquatabad, Karachi, Umer Sharif embarked on his illustrious career at the age of 19, initially performing as "Umer Zarif" on stage before adopting the name "Umer Sharif."
Career
He quickly gained fame for his outstanding performances in comedic stage dramas, such as "Bakra Qistoon Pay" and "Buddha Ghar Pe Hai," as well as his iconic films like "Mr. 420," "Mr. Charlie," "Khandan," and "Laat Sahab."
Umer Sharif's contributions to the Pakistani entertainment industry earned him numerous awards and honors.
He was the only actor to receive four Nigar Awards within a single year and was also honored with three Graduate Awards.
The Pakistani government recognized his exceptional services with the Pride of Performance award.
In August 2021, Umer Sharif suffered a heart ailment, which led to him undergoing treatment in the United States. Where he was airlifted from Pakistan on September 28, 2021.
Due to his deteriorating health condition. He was then shifted to Germany. Where, unfortunately, on October 2, 2021, he passed away in a German hospital.
