Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Sher Afzal Marwat announced on Saturday that all internal party differences have been resolved following a meeting with PTI Founder Imran Khan.
Speaking outside Adiala Jail - Where Khan is currently detained - Marwat disclosed that the PTI chief had personally reconciled with him, ending three months of estrangement.
"Imran Khan hugged me, and on his instructions, all differences have been resolved. I apologize for any misunderstandings," Marwat said.
The PTI leader further revealed that Khan had entrusted him with the leadership responsibilities for the upcoming rally on August 22nd, a significant event as the party seeks to regain momentum amid ongoing political challenges.
Marwat, who had faced disciplinary action earlier this year, asserted his renewed commitment to the party, stating, "I told Imran Khan, 'Give me the responsibility, and you will see the results.'"
Sher Afzal Marwat emphasised that there would be no further party differences.
The rift within the party surfaced on May 9, 2024, when PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub announced Marwat's expulsion from the party's core and political committees following his controversial remarks about Saudi Arabia.
The PTI subsequently suspended Marwat's membership, citing repeated violations of party discipline and public criticism of party leaders.
However, Marwat now insists that the issues have been settled. "Only Imran Khan can remove Sher Afzal Marwat from the party," he declared, underscoring his loyalty to the PTI chairman.
He also took responsibility for any future developments, particularly in the context of the May 9 events, pledging to plan and execute without requiring approval from Khan.
As the party gears up for its August 22 rally, Marwat called on PTI supporters, including students, lawyers, and farmers, to rally behind the leadership.
"We will protest peacefully," he assured, urging party members to energize the public and confront what he described as a "stifling environment."
