Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday appealed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa to step in and order that the general elections be held in the country within 90 days.
The declaration of the PTI core committee meeting stated that only 36 days have left for the caretaker government and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold general elections.
It further stated that holding the elections in 90 days is a mandatory and irrevocable order of the constitution and the state structure must maintain the sanctity of the constitution and implement its purpose.
The PTI core committee declaration also stated that the Supreme Court is responsible for maintaining the sanctity of the Constitution, adding that the Chief Justice of Pakistan should intervene in view of the sensitivity of the situation.
