A monsoon tree planting campaign has begun in Murree to restore its forests, with over 5,000 saplings planted on the first day. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Punjab Forest Department, Pakistan Army, and Plant for Pakistan Cell.
The campaign, part of the Special Investment Facilitation Council's (SIFC) Green Pakistan Initiative and Plant for Pakistan program, aims to plant more than 700,000 trees in Murree this year.
A diverse group participated in the event, including students from schools, colleges, and universities, as well as representatives from minority communities such as Christians, Sikhs, and Hindus. Religious scholars, madrasa students, and children with special needs also joined the effort.
Tourists from various parts of Pakistan contributed to the campaign, demonstrating widespread support for forest restoration. The public praised the Pakistan Army's efforts to revitalize forests and raise awareness about the importance of tree planting.
Participants also expressed their commitment to restoring other forests in Pakistan under the Plant for Pakistan campaign.
The enthusiasm of Plant 4 Pakistan's Green Youth Ambassadors was particularly notable, reflecting the impact of the Army Chief's recent address at a youth convention.
